REGENERATIVE PRACTICES

We are members of Verified Beef Production Plus . This is a Canadian on farm food safety program which provides verification of all aspects of sustainable beef production.
Finished means Fattened.
Our animals are born and raised on our ranch . They graze on well managed grass throughout the grazing season and in the winter months only we feed hay and forage and supplement with grains when necessary due to hay shortage. The Cattle in our grass finished program are always under 30 months of age and have access to our best forage during the summer months and are butchered when fattened on grass only providing you with a product low in saturated fats high in Omega-3 and full of added vitamins and minerals from the forage
We use regenerative practices on our ranch. According to Wikipedia this is defined as a conservation approach to food and farming systems. It focuses on topsoil regeneration increasing biodiverisity, improving the water cycle and strengthening the health and vitality of farm soil using livestock integration and well managed grazing practices.
ABOUT US
We are the fourth generation on our family ranch. We raise Black Angus cattle and also have Highland /Angus cross. We love this cross as it produces a smaller framed cow with lots of depth, they adapt well to our harsh environment and their meat is extra tender with lots of marbling. Our animals are humanely raised while using regenerative practices on our pastures. We use horses for almost all of our livestock handling needs creating a low-stress environment. Studies have shown that finishing cattle on grass compared to conventional methods has many health benefits. Grass-finished beef has higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidant vitamins such as Vitamin E. It is also lower in saturated fat and tastes amazing!
